Furnace Community Council

NOTES OF MEETING OF 24th January 2019

PRESENT: L Syed (Chair), P Whale, R Tott, Sharon MacInnes, V Whale

ALSO PRESENT: Councillor Douglas Philand , Hazel Gray, Mark Boyd, Val Whale, Dougie Smylie

APOLOGIES FOR ABSENSE: Martin Wilson (Police Scotland)

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING

Concerns still surround the noise from the quarry made worse since the removal of trees which buffered the sound. Lorries have also been seen moving at 7am. Lack of blasting information has been raised informally. Councillor Douglas Philand to make enquiries.

TRESURERS REPORT

  • The new bank account is now up and running.
  • The requested salt spreader is being purchased.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

All expressed concern over lack of lighting supplied to the village during the festive period. A cherry picker was made available but, despite being in the area, was not put to use by the operative. The council was not informed of the grant given to cover costs of transferring responsibility from council to community council for Christmas lighting. The council is determined that this is not repeated and will look to train up an electrician(s) to ERG39 standard.

We need to raise money to do our own lights from now on.

MICRO GRANTS

No applications have been received.

NEXT MEETING THURSDAY 28 MARCH

7.30pm in Furnace Village Hall. This meeting will be publicised in Everything Furnace Facebook page, the Furnace Website and posters around the village.
