TREASURER’S REPORT   A written report was given. Mike to check balance of micro-grants and it was agreed to keep this as a separate balance in future.

POLICE REPORT Martin reported that there had been a lot of work around problems with potholes.

There has been a big change to common law arrests as now all are under section 1 of the Criminal Justice Act affecting release on bail and re-arrest powers (28 days). Hopefully this will be an improvement but is taking time to settle in.

ROAD ISSUES Work on the Furnace Bends is now underway, although resurfacing is lagging behind the “scraping” crews. Councillor Philand reported on meeting with Transport Scotland – not happy with what Bear are doing and are keeping an eye on progress (Dougie to forward relevant email). The Task Force is to meet with the Minister in 2 weeks – there will be a retrospective study as to why all this has taken so long. A new anti skid surface is to go down

Compensation : Cllr Philand will support claimants although there seems to have been no joy up to now after 4 months – Task Force to raise this also.

There is now no need to repaint 20s Plenty on the road as there is a sign up. Cllr Philand to check who put it there.

YOUTH PROJECTS Sharon to speak to Margaret Renton about the possibility of Furnace youngsters joining the Inveraray Youth Project. Also look at funding for transport.

Sharon reported that the school roll had now increased to 10 with another 5 due to join in August (and one to leave) and Minard has doubled to 2.

MID ARGYLL PARTNERSHIP  There has still been no meeting and no date set.
